Virtual Private Servers
What is a Virtual Private Server?
A Virtual Private Server, or VPS, is just what it sounds like – a Virtual Server. We have very powerful servers which are split into a number of virtual environments. Essentially, we take a big, powerful server and create little software-based child servers, each with their own separate resources.
Each virtual server acts as if it were it’s own server – and you can treat them this way.
Why would I need a VPS?
If you are running a large resource-intensive website, or are looking to provide customized services, a VPS is for you. You get full control of the configuration of the server, and only pay for as much resources as you need.
The alternative is to operate your own physical server which is much more expensive.
What operating systems do you offer?
Out of our Ontario location, we are running Microsoft Hyper-V which allows you to run Windows Server 2003 and newer, or Red Hat/CentOS Linux.
Our Atlanta and Chicago locations run OpenVZ allowing you to run nearly any Linux distribution.
Are these servers managed?
This depends on your package. Our base plans only include basic management, however, if you are interested in managed services, please contact us and we can price a managed plan for you.
